We absolutely love fire station open days. My toddler (then aged two) enjoyed the one in Bletchley so much last summer he still talks about it now. We watched a chip pan fire safety display, he had a turn with a hose, got to sit in a fire engine and got to meet firefighters. And it’s all free. Now of course the whole point of the day is raising awareness of the excellent work the firefighters do and also raising money for charity. So we were more than happy to donate some cash to go on the bouncy castle, buy a helmet and buy some food. It’s such good fun particularly if you have children who are big fans of the emergency services. There are loads taking place over the summer in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, and a couple in Milton Keynes. Here is a comprehensive list of open days in 2016. PLEASE CHECK the event is still running before travelling. I’m not responsible for any changes that are made. Do share this blog post with any friends and family who’ll find it useful and remember to take along some cash on the day.
