Who doesn’t love a FREE event to take the kids to? Well there’s TWO taking place this week in Milton Keynes to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations and will be of particular interest if you’ve got slightly older children who don’t have the 7pm bedtime like mine do. On Thursday 21st April Her Majesty is going to light the a beacon at Windsor Castle signalling the start of a chain that will see more than 1,000 beacons lit across the UK and commonwealth. One of those is at Milton Keynes Museum. Celebrations will include a hog roast, live music and other entertainment before the beacon is lit at 8.30pm. The best thing about it in my opinion is that you can look around the museum FREE of charge – gates open at 6.30pm. We’ve been there before and really enjoyed it – take a look at my blog post for lots of pictures and info. The other beacon lighting event is at Campbell Park between 7pm and 8pm where there will be two choirs and arts company Festive Road performing – all of the details are on the Park’s Trust website – bear in mind it does say it is a ‘small event’ so there may be more to interest the kids at the museum.
