You and the children can’t fail to love seeing newborn lambs… and we’re so lucky to live close enough to a number of farms which allow you to do just that. We recently visited Manor Farm in Wilstead for their lambing day. My children had never seen so many sheep in one place. They loved it! As much as we enjoy the farms that also have play areas, parks and tractors, there was something lovely about visiting a ‘normal’ farm. It was really cheap too! Thanks to the followers of my facebook page I’ve learned there are a number of other lambing days taking place across over the next couple of weeks.

With over 2000 sheep to give birth, there’s a good chance you’ll see a lamb being born at Watergate Farm in Hockliffe. There are lambing days on during Easter weekend 25th-28th March and the first three weekends in April. There are other animals to see as well as tractor rides and an all day barbeque. It costs £4 for an adult and £3 for a child. The lambing sheds are open at the Old Dairy Farm Centre during weekends in March and Easter Monday and it costs £2 each to visit. There are a number of shops there and craftspeople as well as a restaurant. It’s located in Upper Stowe in Northamptonshire and is accessible from both the A5 and M1. Closer to Milton Keynes there’s a lambing event on at Thrift Farm on 2nd April.  There will be lamb related games, a bouncy castle, animal handling sessions, face painting and an introduction to their alpacas. Weekend charges for Thrift Farm are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.

I now work four days a week and do this blog late at night once the little boys are sleeping. It's won several awards over the last four years and I continue to run it for free and mostly focus on free, cheap, and good value days out. Don't forget to follow all of our latest adventures on facebook, instagram and twitter and have a look at all of the videos of the places we visit on the Milton Keynes Kids YouTube Channel - subscribe to it for notifications every time I add a new place. And remember... you may been reading this post months after we visited, do check with the destination you're visiting for up to date opening times and prices.
