I’ve won the gold award for Blog: Entertainment at the first Champion of Champion Digital Awards. It really has come as a complete surprise and I’m absolutely delighted. I was automatically entered into the awards having won the gold award in the same category at the Milton Keynes Digital Awards in October 2016. The organisers of that event also run similar events in Cambridgeshire, Kent, Surrey, Essex, Hertfordshire and so all of the winners from 15 different categories were put forward. Unlike the local awards which were decided by judges, I would have to ask you, readers of my blog, and followers of my social media pages to vote for me, and the winner would be the website which got the most votes. It’s very nerve-wracking as essentially it’s a popularity contest.

Well, the awards day came on 9th February 2017 and unfortunately I wasn’t able to go to the afternoon ceremony at the BFI Southbank in London. I actually work as a radio producer 4 days a week and then write this blog late in the evenings once my boys were in bed. Through twitter I was overwhelmed to find out that I had won, having received the most votes in my category. So thank you so much to everyone who took the time to vote in the Champion of Champions Digital Awards, it’s really appreciated. If you’re wondering what it is, it’s a plaque to go on the wall. A number of Milton Keynes based companies also won gold awards that afternoon including Aubergine 262, Wise Guys, Bombinate Web Design and Barker Shoes. To be in such good company is just fabulous – winning an award is just one of the things that gives me the motivation to continue doing this blog. The other is knowing you find it useful, and receiving your pictures of the places you’ve taken your children to.

I'm Laura, mum of two boys - aged six and four. I started this website at the end of Sept 2015 whilst on maternity leave. I now work four days a week and do this blog late at night once the little boys are sleeping. It's won several awards over the last four years and I continue to run it for free and mostly focus on free, cheap, and good value days out. Do drop me an email laura@miltonkeyneskids.com if you want to contact me. Don't forget to follow all of our latest adventures on facebook, instagram and twitter and have a look at all of the videos of the places we visit on the Milton Keynes Kids YouTube Channel - subscribe to it for notifications every time I add a new place. And remember... you may been reading this post months after we visited, do check with the destination you're visiting for up to date opening times and prices. If you find this blog useful then please do comment on my posts and leave me a Facebook review - it makes doing this all the more worthwhile.
