How do you find the Robotazia robot exhibition?
The exhibition is at Milton Keynes library in the centre of Milton Keynes. It’s on the left hand side as you walk into the library. The address is 555 Silbury Blvd, Milton Keynes MK9 3HL. Parking directly outside the library costs £2 an hour so you may wish to drive around to find a purple space which is 50p an hour. They are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10.30am – 4.30pm, Thursdays 10.30am – 6.30pm, Saturdays 10.00am – 4.00pm, SUNDAYS they are CLOSED.
What’s at the Robotazia exhibition?
The highlight is Amy – a robot waitress who can serve you drinks to your table within the cafe area of the exhibition. There are quite a few robots to see including the Iron Giant, a Star Wars droid, Transformers and one made out of old make-up compacts. It’s not very big, but it is fascinating to see all the robots and fun for children to look at. You can see all of them for free and have a wander around although we really enjoyed stopping to have a drink in the cafe area. I took my 3 year old son, he found the robot waitress fascinating to watch. The staff were super friendly and gave him a robot mask to wear. The exhibition is only on until the end of January 2019 although apparently they are looking for a more permanent space long term. It would be great to see more in the future particularly if there are interactive displays and activities for children – at the moment it’s very much a case of looking at them.
What else can we do once we’ve seen the Robotazia exhibition?
The fossil of ‘Big-Eye’ the Caldecotte Monster is housed in the reference section in the library and there is a large children’s area too – nothing overly special about it but a big space filled with lots of books if you fancy some quiet reading time. If you want to stay within the city centre itself there are small soft play areas in both Centre MK and Intu MK if you want to go shopping.
