Rushmere Country Park in Bedfordshire is one of the places we keep going back to as it’s only around 20 mins from Milton Keynes and is a fun cheap morning or afternoon out. It has a lovely wooden sculpture and fairy door trail. My 3 year old loves searching for all of the doors – although he knocks on them and wonders why the fairies never answer. A photo on the giants chair is a must as is a clamber over the big spider. There’s a small play area which includes a little house, sit-on snail, digger and small slide. There’s also a big slide and a big swing. We tend to have a play, then go for a walk and then sit down and eat a picnic – there are a few tables and a big grassed area to sit on. There is a café, as well as a small kiosk for food and hot drinks. On our latest adventure there, we took friends who hadn’t been before, they brought their dog and she had a great time too. If you want to see the video of our day out then do watch it below – I hope you like it!

I’ve condensed 3 hours worth of fun down to less then a minute. It’s the first one to feature my toddler in. Don’t forget to take £2 to pay on exit if you visit. If you’re looking for a big day out then this Sunday 14th August there is a FREE summer fayre and dog show on which includes arts and crafts, food and drink, BBQ, cake and activities. They also have a teddy bear picnic on Friday 12th Aug and a concert on the evening of 13th Aug although both are paid events. All of the details are on their website.

I'm Laura, mum of two boys - aged six and four. I started this website at the end of Sept 2015 whilst on maternity leave. I now work four days a week and do this blog late at night once the little boys are sleeping. It's won several awards over the last four years and I continue to run it for free and mostly focus on free, cheap, and good value days out. Do drop me an email laura@miltonkeyneskids.com if you want to contact me. Don't forget to follow all of our latest adventures on facebook, instagram and twitter and have a look at all of the videos of the places we visit on the Milton Keynes Kids YouTube Channel - subscribe to it for notifications every time I add a new place. And remember... you may been reading this post months after we visited, do check with the destination you're visiting for up to date opening times and prices. If you find this blog useful then please do comment on my posts and leave me a Facebook review - it makes doing this all the more worthwhile.
