There are so many brilliant parks in Milton Keynes. Some really are worth making the trip for to have a fun free couple of hours out with your children. These are all smaller parks set within housing areas in MK. There are lots of fab ones but these are ten of the best we have visited. My two boys are aged four and approaching two and they have enjoyed them all. Some of them are also good for older children. Do click on the blue writing to get the full review of each park. Those that we have visited more recently have videos. These parks don’t have toilet facilities. If you’d prefer somewhere that does then do have a look at the country parks section of Milton Keynes Kids. If you’d like to suggest others we could visit then please do comment at the bottom or send me a message through social media.

It’s so big that Stanton Low Park in Oakridge Park in Milton Keynes feels more like a country park than a local park. It’s number one on our list for a number of reasons. With its wide range of play equipment it’s suitable for a range of ages. There are lovely wooden houses, baby swings, a small slide and a tunnel which will appeal to younger ones. There’s a zip line, climbing stones and a BMX track which will appeal to older ones and loads of space to run around. It’s set next to the canal and it’s great fun to wave at the boats. And it’s seeped in history – there are 1000 year old ruins of St Peters Church there. Do take a picnic but please take your rubbish home and pick up dog poop – people quite rightly often moan about it. An approximate postcode is for it is MK14 6FQ which is for Weavers Lane – don’t go up Weavers Lane – that’s simply one of the nearest streets to it. The park is set back from Selkirk Drive. We parked at the end of Selkirk Drive in the car park for Stonepit Field and then walked – about 5 minutes.

The park that we have visited the most overall since doing this blog is Brooklands in Milton Keynes. With its brightly coloured floor and fun play equipment, it’s visually the prettiest out of all those we’ve been to. We love the sand pit and wooden structure that you can climb up on. There’s a smaller climbing frame for toddlers, bigger climbing frame for slightly older ones which has a cool bumpy slide, and a pirate ship. We also like the animal sculptures. Only downsides are that there is only one swing and the sand pit would be incredible with running water. It’s easy to get to – the best postcode is MK10 7ER which takes you to Trafalgar Drive which is the road opposite the park. It is of course a residential area so please be considerate to people living there when parking.

One of the most delightful parks for young children to enjoy is the Wind in the Willows park in Great Holm. There’s a good range of wooden play equipment including a car, house, big swing and tunnel. We love the carved characters which include toad, badger and ratty. It is a park you can spend some time at. Because you can spend some time there, you almost forget that there are no ‘facilities’ as it’s set in a housing estate. Also be considerate where you park. It’s in Petworth in Great Holm. If you put the street name into your GPS then you’ll come down Holyrood then you need to turn left and you’ll see the entrance to the park. Alternatively the closest postcode we’ve found is MK8 9DH.

With its fab sandpit, big wooden climbing frame and cool pirate ship, the pirate park in Loughton in Milton Keynes is a wonderful place to visit for children of a variety of ages. Each time we go my boys experience it in a different way. There’s also a big swing and a hammock style swing. Definitely take a bucket and spade. It’s also a good place for picnic. It’s just behind the sports and social club. The address is Linceslade Grove, Milton Keynes, MK5 8DJ.

Simpson Park has the best small climbing frame for young toddlers. My youngest son (almost two as I write this) loves climbing up the steps, walking across the wobbly bridge and then playing with the musical pipes. There’s also a very cool snake swing and a larger climbing frame for older children. Do take a picnic. The best postcode is MK6 3AY. The park is located on Simpson Drive which just off the H9 Groveway in Milton Keynes. There is a car park.

The park in Little Brickhill is one of the first ones we ever visited and it still remains a firm favourite to this day. That’s down to two key pieces of play equipment – a super cool climbing frame and a lovely wooden train. The climbing frame is accessible enough for those with little legs but has fun slides to be exciting too. My sons love role-playing in the train, crawling though its tunnel and even climbing on it. The park is set in a big field so lots of space for running around. Come off the A5 at the Little Brickhill / Great Brickhill turning – follow the signs to Little Brickhill and it’s literally just as you enter the village on the right hand side opposite a petrol station no longer in use. If you have no idea where Little Brickhill is then put the postcode MK17 9LZ into your sat nav – that takes you to the centre of the village – it’s before then.

The Dragon park in Great Linford re-opened in June 2015 having undergone it’s first revamp in 30 years. With a range of bright yellow and green play equipment there’s lots to enjoy for a variety of ages. There’s a big slide, nice climbing frame, swings, roundabout, parkour area and skate-boarding slide rail and lots of grass to run around on. The park is behind Great Linford Primary School, off the Green. You can park at the Local Centre off St Leger Drive where it’s well worth feeding the ducks at the pond as well. MK14 5HA. Out of the local centre turn left. Then there’s a pathway on the right just past Paddocks Close which takes you to the park.

If you’re looking for a small park just for toddlers then the snail park in Walnut Tree is a nice little one to visit. It has the perfect size climbing frame for young children, baby swings, and snails to sit on. An approximate postcode is MK7 7LR which is for Pinfold. We then walked across the field just off Walton Road to get to the park.

The blue park in Monkston isn’t so much a park as it is a big climbing frame – but it’s a really cool climbing frame. It has multiple slides and is lots of fun. There’s another park a short walk away which is also worth a visit. An approximate postcode MK10 9BX. Go about halfway up Kilwinning Drive, and assuming Blanchard Circle is in front of you, there is a pathway on your left hand side which takes you to the climbing frame.

Having only opened in December 2016 the park in Wavendon still feels relatively new. It has a lovely climbing frame and I’d suggest it’s most suitable for good-climbing three year olds upwards. There’s also a fun turtle, triangle climbing frame and wooden balance beams. The best postcode to get there is MK17 8LH.
