As my children are getting older we’re more likely to pick a park and then go exploring around the local area to see what else we can enjoy. On a sunny day in the school holidays in August 2019 we decided to visit a play area in Springfield, Milton Keynes. To our delight we actually found two other play areas only a short walk away In Woolstone and if we visited the area again we’d do it back to front – so for your benefit I’ll start with Woolstone local park. Watch my short video below and then scroll down for more information.

Where is Woolstone local park?

Woolstone local park is in Woolstone, an area of Milton Keynes. It’s a free park and you do not pay to park. The best postcode for parking is 23 Newport Rd, Woolstone, Milton Keynes MK15 0AB and the play areas are across the field.

What’s the first play area at Woolstone Local Park in Milton Keynes like?

There are two play areas. One is wooden and seems relatively modern with a small climbing frame. There’s also a see-saw and swings – both for babies and older children. There are picnic benches although set slightly further away from the equipment. There’s plenty of space for children to run around. The play area isn’t gated. I would say the equipment would be most enjoyed by younger children – my sons aged six and four at the time of writing this were fine.

What’s the second play area at Woolstone local park like?

To the left of the first one is a brightly coloured more retro play area with a slightly bigger climbing frame and slide, as well as a roundabout and lookout tower frames. My boys loved playing in this one. My youngest enjoys roundabouts so he was happy and my eldest loves climbing so good for him too. There’s also a basketball court.

Where would we go to after Woolstone Local Park?

If you don’t want to go far then walk towards the big trees to the path and turn right – you’ll then be by the canal – it’s very pretty – quite nice for photos. You’ll then come to a bridge. Cross over the bridge and turn left and you’re then at the bottom of Springfield where there’s another play area. See picture below. I imagine you can also continue walking along the canal. Looking at google maps, both Campbell Park and Willen Lake also aren’t far. If you’re not too sure which direction to walk in but want to explore more parks then hop it the car – my list of parks are in postcode order so you can go from one to the next.
