CAMPTON PLANTATION: A hidden gem in Central Bedfordshire about a 30-40 minute drive from Milton Keynes, Campton Plantation is a wonderful wooded area with an exciting sculpture trail. There has been woodland on the site for about 300 years, and sculptures since 2010. We enjoyed our free ‘adventure’ searching for all the beautifully carved pieces and wooden teepee. You can get a buggy round it. It’s next to the A507 in Chicksands but It’s easy to miss so pop SG17 5TQ in to your sat nav – that takes you to the council offices which you can park in at weekends. Simply walk across the road you drove in to get to the woods. On weekdays you have to park in Shefford and walk.

It was quiet on a Sunday morning with a few families and dog walkers. Great place to burn off energy, but this is NOT somewhere to go if you need facilities. No toilets / baby change and the nearest cafe is in Shefford.

TIME FROM MK: 35-40 MINS APPROX

ADDRESS: SG17 5TQ

We visited in May 2015 – for more pictures and information about the history of the site visit thisĀ website
