MEAD OPEN FARM – With its impressive adventure play area, large indoor soft play, Little Tykes play area, digger village and animals, Mead Open Farm is a fun day out for young children and has more than enough to keep them amused. There is a separate outdoor play area for toddlers. 2 year old was happy to go on the big climbing frame but needed daddy’s assistance to help him. The indoor play area is a good size with big slides and lots of things to climb up and over. On a sunny day toddler loved the digger village – so much fun playing in the sand! There’s also a couple of tractors which children can pretend to drive…. and a tractor ride which goes around the field which runs every so often.

The animal barn included goats, sheep, horses, cows and bunnies and there are various times throughout the day when ‘bunny hop’ takes place and kids can feed the lambs. For older children there are go-karts, sky trail and climbing wall. We always take a picnic wherever we go but if you’re planning on eating there the café can get really busy at peak wet weekend times! There is an indoor picnic area where you can eat too. We would very much consider it a ‘treat day out’ as although there is lots to do it costs around £40 for a family of 4 at a weekend (booking in advance). Do bear in mind though under 2s are free and it’s a bit cheaper going in the week. Definitely worth looking out for offers on their website.

We went in December 2015, do check their website before you travel for the latest opening times, facilities and prices.
