About Me

I’m Laura Miller – journalist, radio producer and creator of the biggest cheap days out website for children in Milton Keynes. You really don’t have to spend a lot of money to have an adventure with the children. Milton Keynes Kids is your personal guide to the best parks, country parks, farm parks and seasonal events locally – with the occasional treat day out – based on the adventures with my two sons aged seven and five.

My Story

Where It All Began

In April 2015, my youngest son was a very active 22 month old and I was pregnant with my second son. I was going to have to live on a budget during maternity leave but still wanted to do lots of fun things with my toddler. I could find very little information online about free and cheap places to go locally, and so I decided to do something about it. I started the Milton Keynes Kids Facebook Page where I could share pictures and videos of places I found. I discovered so many and realised a much bigger resource was needed, and so this website was born, and social media channels on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube then followed. My Facebook page alone reaches hundreds of thousands of local people a month. I have won multiple awards and continue to run Milton Keynes Kids for free whilst working 32 hours a week as a journalist and radio producer.

“So useful for ideas to entertain the kids. I always find something I haven’t tried yet. Invaluable.”
