KINGSTON LIBRARY: Having only opened in January 2015, Kingston library immediately feels very new and modern. The children’s area is brightly decorated with comfy sofas, chairs, tables and a foam stack of shapes (which the children love climbing on!) It’s a lively library and had a real buzz to it with lots of books for toddlers and beyond. They do a children’s hour on a Thursday 10am-11am which we haven’t been to, but a friend with an almost 1 year old said is excellent. Unlike other MK libraries’ story and rhyme sessions, there is a £2 charge but the library is closed to the public and it’s an hour long.

There is a funky meeting room and free wi-fi. We often order children’s books in (which is free) before deciding to buy them. A nice place to visit – particularly when it’s raining (!) – to avoid busy soft play places. Milton Keynes Libraries has an excellent facebook page which is regularly updated with what’s on.

We visited in May 2015, please check their website for the latest opening times and facilities.
