Summerfields Miniature Railway, Bedford Model Engineering Society

We had a great morning out at the Summerfields Miniature Railway in May 2015. It’s open to the public on selected days throughout the year and is run by the Bedford Model Engineering Society. Rides on the train were £2 each and under 2s were free. It’s a good train ride which takes you to another area where you can get off the train and have a picnic. There’s also a bridge which toddler loved climbing up. There were sit on miniature tractors which go around the field which were £1 a go.

There were stalls selling toy vehicles – we could have easily picked up a few bargains so take some cash with you. There is a café but we took a picnic. There are toilets but no baby change facilities. There is a second hand furniture store there as well which is worth a pootle around. The address is Hammer Hill, Haynes, Bedford, MK45 3BH – postcode is approximate – only use it as a guide along with the following instructions as on some old sat navs it’s the wrong postcode.  The track site can be found on the A600 between Cardington and Haynes. If you’re going there from Milton Keynes it’ll be on the right just before you get to Haynes. We visited in May 2015 – please do check out their website or facebook page for the latest prices, dates and facilities.

I'm Laura, mum of two boys - aged six and four. I started this website at the end of Sept 2015 whilst on maternity leave. I now work four days a week and do this blog late at night once the little boys are sleeping. It's won several awards over the last four years and I continue to run it for free and mostly focus on free, cheap, and good value days out. Do drop me an email laura@miltonkeyneskids.com if you want to contact me. Don't forget to follow all of our latest adventures on facebook, instagram and twitter and have a look at all of the videos of the places we visit on the Milton Keynes Kids YouTube Channel - subscribe to it for notifications every time I add a new place. And remember... you may been reading this post months after we visited, do check with the destination you're visiting for up to date opening times and prices. If you find this blog useful then please do comment on my posts and leave me a Facebook review - it makes doing this all the more worthwhile.
