Sometimes play equipment gets tired, damaged or uninteresting for today’s children, so it’s always great to see money invested in existing areas if indeed the park is in a good location and lots of children would still enjoy going there. We were delighted to see that the park behind Wavendon Gate Pavillion in Milton Keynes was re-vamped in March 2018 and couldn’t wait to see what it was like. Watch our video below and then scroll down to find out more information about where it is.

What’s changed at the park at Wavendon Gate in Milton Keynes?

As of March 2018 there is a brand new piece of play equipment at the park – it’s a big yellow castle which is set in stones. It has a low level platform to access it which is good for young children who can then climb up on to a small slide. There are then two further platforms – one which includes a telescope and another slightly higher one. My 2 year old was fine on the smaller platform – and my 4 year old was ok climbing up to the others. It also includes climbing bars which older children may like. Within the stones area there’s also low level wooden balance beams. What else is there? There’s an older style smaller pirate ship themed climbing frame; a see-saw; two bigger swings and two baby swings.

What did we think of the park at Wavendon Gate Pavillion?

My sons really enjoyed visiting. The new castle is best enjoyed from aged 4 up I would say. It’s got a couple of open gaps higher up that you would need to be aware of with younger children as they may lack the fear that slightly older ones do. They can still enjoy the lower ramp and slide though. It’s a good piece of equipment – it doesn’t give too much scope to run around like others we have tried – we really like ones that have bridges – but that said it’s a welcome addition to the park and feels fresh and modern. We saw a number of older children really enjoying it so it appears to be be designed for children of all ages. The older pirate themed climbing frame was fine for my 4 year old who scaled it quickly and had fun, but with the absence of steps my two year old wasn’t able to get up it and needed help – so don’t be decieved thinking it’s a smaller climbing frame. Would we go back? Yes definitely every so often. It’s not big but accessible for buggies and wheelchairs.

Where is the Wavendon Gate pavilion park and what else is nearby?

The address is Isaacson Drive, Wavendon Gate, Milton Keynes MK7 7RZ. You can park there. The play area is just behind the pavilion. Other good parks a short drive away are the one in Wavendon – MK17 8LH and also the snail park in Walnut Tree – MK7 7LR.
